KYBT supports disadvantaged young people aged 18 – 30, who are unemployed or underemployed, and who have a passionate idea for starting a business, but have no access to the seed funding required to achieve this ambition.

Self employment helps the young person increase their self esteem and achieve economic independence. They become a role model to other young people who see their friend realising their dreams and achieving self respect and independence.

A good idea for a business start-up, but no access to seed funding can become very demotivating. KYBT provides simple Start-up training to enable the planning required to develop the idea into a business capable of succeeding. If viable, KYBT provides a small loan and at the same time matches the young entrepreneur with a Mentor who will be their guide, coach and friend for the first 2 – 3 years. KYBT also provides on going business skill development training for their young entrepreneurs.

Testimonials

“Twenty years from now, you would be disappointed in things you did not do that you could have done. My advice to other young people is to sail their boat from the safe harbour, and go to deep waters where a lot of fish are to be found. Now is the time to take a step towards what you have always dreamt about. I can’t imagine how my life would have turned out without KYBT – they made my dreams come true”.

“To my fellow youth, don’t just sit there, do something. A business idea could be just on your door step.  Never undermine your ability.  The business has really changed me from nothing to something.  I never thought that one day I could own such a prospective venture. I ask myself could I have achieved this without KYBT, without their faith in me and without their support?  I doubt it very much”.
